The Solution Sprint HACKATHON event took place on March 9-10.

The aim of the competition was to challenge university students to develop a project within a 24-hour intensive challenge. The challenging projects were expected to focus on accessible living, as determined by the esteemed jury committee. This aimed to raise awareness among students about the difficulties faced by disabled individuals in society and provide them with the opportunity to develop new projects.

Organized by 7 GDSC teams, Solution Sprint Hackathon was hosted by Altınbaş University. Following the applications open to all universities in Istanbul, 13 teams that passed the initial screenings earned the right to participate in this marathon.

The participating teams included students from Yıldız Technical University, Istanbul University, Istinye University, Koç University, Biruni University, Sabahattin Zaim University, Yeditepe University, Bahçeşehir University, Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University, Altınbaş University, and Özyeğin University, totaling 45 contestants. The event lasted for twenty-four hours, during which the students endeavored to develop their projects in line with the concept of accessible living.

In total, 9 projects emerged during the event. The first-place team, “Cobra Team,” won a prize of 5,000 TL, the second-place team, “Ayran Boys,” received a prize of 3,000 TL, and the third-place team, “JSC,” earned a prize of 3,000 TL.

The event, which included the participation of the Nane Limon team, also featured 24 hours of mentorship sessions. After a one-hour seminar about the nature of hackathons, participants were provided with strategic and software support. The jury and evaluation process included our university academics Oğuz Ata and Timur İnan, senior software engineer Şeyma Sarıgil, and Tarık Kaan Koç.

We would like to express our gratitude to the sponsors of the event, including Kartepe Havuz and Construction CEO Sercan Önal, as well as other sponsors Linqiapp and Pınar.
